Loch Ness
The point where the Caledonian Canal joins Loch Ness at Fort Augustus, a popular mooring place for boats.
The mysterious waters of Loch Ness from near the Abbey at Fort Augustus. The loch is famous for supposedly being inhabited by a humped monster, "Nessie" and there are two exhibitions devoted to this theme at nearby Drumnadrochit.
Fort Augustus
Fort Augustus is an attractive village situated at the southwestern end of Loch Ness on the Caledonian Canal. This is the closest I came to seeing Nessie!
The Caledonian Canal empties into Loch Ness via a flight of five lochs at Fort Augustus.
General Wade's Military Road
General Wade's Military Road on the south side of Loch Ness dates back to the early 18th century. This view taken from below Carn an t-Suidhe to the east of Fort Augustus.
